I do all of my development on a Mac from VMWare with this linux appliance;

http://www.visoracle.com/download/debian/

works pretty well. there is a free 30-day VMWare Fusion demo from the VMWare site too.

There are some instructions on getting things going under OS X here;

however, I didn't have much luck with it.
