hwclock allows hours > 12 to be saved... I was wondering if the rtc driver
allowed more functionality/control to the RTC...
Looks like it's a stripped down rtc... BTW, I added timezones...it works good
for localtime now.

The M48T86 has 24 hour mode, I can see the proc_read in the driver, no
proc_write so you can't change it via proc with the current driver.

Maybe I'm missing something, are you saying that linux allows 24 hour
but hours > 12 are not saved by hwclock when you shutdown? I think
hwclock looks at timezone, maybe you can change zones prior to shutdown.
