Hi,
Nice to hear that your webcam is working for you. But after
experimenting for an entire afternoon, I could not get my webcam to
work. Specifically, vgrabbj -d /dev/video0 -f /mnt/image.jpg produced
a file, image.jpg, but it was 0 bytes in length. It also hung my
serial console such that ^C did not return me my console.
Here is what I did:
1) apt-getted gspca but manually compiled it using the shell script
./gspca_build that was provided
At this point, I had the 4 modules insmod-ed:
Module Size Used by
gspca 625572 0
videodev 24480 1 gspca
v4l2_common 15840 1 videodev
v4l1_compat 12388 1 videodev
Running dmesg also gave me assurance that the camera was recognised as
a Logitech Notebook deluxe webcam. /dev/video0 is created as well
2) Originally, I compiled and ran spcacat, but it did not work as
well. It threw up an error message: Couldnt get videopict params with
VIDIOCGPICT. It also hung my console.
3) Unsure of what to do next, I did some searching on this group and
saw your post. I apt-getted vgrabbj and ran it, but it did not work,
with the problems faced as above.
I will try to figure out what is happening another day, meanwhile any
help is appreciated.
