The thing is that TS-7800 isn't an embedded device. It is fully featured
linux PC. (Oh well, it's missing VGA port but who needs anyway :)
Just put debian there and use it like any other linux pc.
I have actually developed a few production apps by running screen+vim in
TS-7800 (and using ssh connection over ethernet to the device). It works
just fine. At first it feels a little bit sluggish but you get used to
it quickly. Also you can compile apps directly in the board so you don't
need any cross-compilation setup.
Kernel issues are somewhat another matter. Setting up a kernel
cross-compilation machine has few tricks but is rather simple. I have
compiled few kernels myself and they've worked pretty fine (however
tssdcard has few problems, darn closed source and patents).
I hope Technologix would at least provide all object files required to
compile tssdcard kernel module (just like nvidia provides source for its
graphics driver kernel module). In the april version of kernel source I
get some symbol not found errors (dma-something) when loading
technologix-provided tssdcard.ko with self-build kernel. ts7800_nand from
technologix has same errors but self-built doesn't. Theoretically if we
would have everything needed to build tssdcard.ko then we could use
newest kernels and have sd-card support.
