Not according to Technologic. They told me to use the same patched
kernel they sent last fall for the smaller memory board, and send a
copy of the kernel file in case I'd lost it.
And FWIW, I've now booted from an NFS drive so that I could make a
tarball of the old (working) board's "drive", then booted the new
board (made a back tarball of its "drive") and slammed the old board's
tarball onto the new board.
Now my application runs sometimes. For example, when executed by an
init.d script it can daemonize itself and then create a thread fine.
Sometimes (but not always) it will also work if the init.d script is
run from a shell. It will never work if the command that the script
executes is just typed into the shell.
But I've given this up as unsolvable. I can just append an ampersand
to the command line in the init.d script and on shell command lines
and it works fine in both cases. I just won't bother to be any more
"standard" since that is leading me to problems.
PS: From other sources I've learned that this may be an intrinsic
problem with the 2.4 kernel and/or 2.3.2 libc. As I'm not ready to
roll my own kernel for the TS-7250, I'm going to do my best to work
around the problem instead.
