Looks like it matches with the sample SD-card image


If I setup loopback device

losetup /dev/loop2 <mbr-file>

 

then I can do

fdisk /dev/loop2

 

It will show predefinite partition table for a stock image. That means mbr image contains some more componentst then just a thumb loader. It would be nice to get it explained.

As I said I'm going to create separate partition images in standard sector sizes of 512 bytes. Then create a partition table which will match images size and then add 446 bytes of the loader code from MBR or the sector 0.

What is the URL of the 16k image you are referring to?
