[ts-7000] difference between rs232 and ttl COM port

i ve loaded the two moduel with modprobe :
                                           modprob tsuart1 
                                           modprob tsuast7800
after that i ve set the com3 (rs232 ) at 9600 and it work if i launch
a bash command as cat /dev/ttts4 >> file.txt

but if i do the same thing with a ttl com for example ttts8 after that
i setting it if i launch a cat /dev/ttts7 on LCD connector >> file.txt 
it don't seems to catalog nothing 

Ive attached to it a gps and it was in continuos stream data ( in
binary or nmea format ) 
ive connected to pin 14 of lcd port as in your guide is described tnks
to all for an answer .Emiliano
