Hi Alex,
The part number of the display we use is an LCM-104T-HEN which is a
semi-custom version of the LCM-104T-ALU (http://www.nagasaki.com.tw/
products/lcm/LCM_104T_Alu.htm). We had Nagasaki change the flying
lead serial connection for the touch interface to a 9-pin D-Type
(slightlty modified to have an extra 5V and 0V on pins 8&9 to power
the touch interface - we modified one of the RJ45 serial ports on the
TS-7300 to provide this power).
Overall, I've been happy with the display compared to what other
industrial displays are available for arounf $500. Most companies are
asking for $1250+ for the same type of display.
One issue with the display is its need for 12V power - the rest of my
system runs off 24V - so I needed to add a DC:DC converter to provide
the display power.
I don't know how well the touch screen would integrate with the X
window manager as I'm doing everything myself - the serial touch
interface is a simple lead byte followed by X and Y coordinates
(present only when the screen is being touched). The lead byte
changes for the last coordiate (release position), and this is what I
use to read for the button press location. I've had a couple of
different touch screen arangements, so my touch calibration code
decodes the lead byte and X/Y coordiate format from the standard
multiple screen presses while following the moving marker.
I'm really hoping that Technologic Systems comes out with a TS-7XXX
with and integral touch screen. The 7" 800x480 screens are reasonably
priced, and a TS-7250 (or even TS-7800) type card with the touch
screen would be very useful to me.
Regards,
PJE
