One of our engineers received a report of this yesterday, and was able to 
reproduce it.  The problem we found appears to be a bug in busybox.   You 
might want to just download the package to a Linux box and run something 
like Alien to extract the tarball.

BTW: You probably don't want to replace libc... this is very tricky as you 
are basically trying to "replace the rug you are standing on".  If anybody 
else can provide better advice to how this can safely be done...  if you 
search for "oldstable" packages of Debian you should be able to find Sarge 
packages that use the same version of libc on the board.
