Has anyone experienced this and have any suggestions.

I have a process in the background which
periodically 'cat /proc/bus/usb/devices' once every 3 seconds to look
for newley attached USB devices.

The problem is that my wireless Airlink 101 USB interface (wlan0)
gets disabled after 5 or 6 cat of this proc file system.

Anyone know of any solution or any other way to detect non scsi
attached USB devices ?

dmesg is shown below:

Ian.
