Amir,

Not sure what you mean when you say that the 7800 has a *modified flash* but "I do not have the flash".

In any event, I was able to recreate the on-board flash using a script that M.S. of TS posted a short time ago as a guide.  A link to it is here==>  ftp://oz.embeddedarm.com/ts7800/reflash/flash7800  The files you need are one level up from there in "reflash"

I booted to ts-linux on an SD card.  The mtdcopy command seems to only exist there, not in the standard distribution.  I also seem to recall (should have taken notes....but didn't :-( ) that mtdcopy didn't work for me at first. It seemed to use the major and minor device numbers to open something like /dev/mtd/1 and the like which didn't exist.  I created soft links to the regular device names like /dev/mtdblock1 and then mtdcopy was happy.   Try mtdcopy <bogus file name>  200 1 (or some other NON-EXISTENT major device number and you'll see from the returned error what I mean.

It seems counter-intuitive but you create those soft links in your current (albeit SD ts-linux) environment...it gets to the right place.

Note that once you want to exit ts-linux and start the regular one either you need to modify the linuxrc files OR do the following before you "exit".
umount /mnt/root (to get rid of the on-board flash partition which gets mounted there normally)
mount /dev/tssdcardb3 /mnt/root

but using whichever partition you have the normal filesystem installed on...for me its the SD card and part #3 thus /dev/tssdcardb3 The micro-SD card has partitions /dev/tssdcarda[123]

Hope this helps

John

Hi everyone,

I read messages about reflashing TS-7800.
My case is I have a TS-7800 with modified boot to boot up from flash,
but I do not have the flash!!!
Is there any way to put back the board in factory stting boot.
I have an extra TS-7260 which is not modified and booting from internal
flash.

Many thanks,

Amir
