I have tried Sarge also though not the one in images on the FTP server.  I 
think this is a 
setting on my board or ROM version etc.  Just not sure which.

Basically I connect the card to SUSE 10.3 unmount it from media then format it 
as specified in 
the Developer manual.  I then use sudo the tar command (same as developer 
manual with my 
file name)  I did not see errors in the untarring so I assume it is all there.  
I then shut down 
the linux box insert the CF card in my board and it starts to write garbage to 
the terminal for 
a bit then it freezes and proceeds no further.  You can not logon or proceed.  
When I use the 
512GB card it scrolls garbage then prints the logon prompt in a readable line.

It is driving me insane.  I think I am just missing one small step but have no 
idea what.
