I had problems creating a bootable 2GB SD with the second slot of the TS-7300, i spent ages on it, turned out that something was corrupting the data being written to the sd card, i believe it was because i did an apt-get upgrade of everything, i do recall an issue about memory corruption on a later lib, i know i get incorrect code compiling certain apps on the TS-7300 with the supplied gcc. I used another machine(osx) to dd to the card instead and that solved my problem. Probably not related to your problem, but might be worth checking. Yahoo!
