I'm having trouble getting pppd to work with a Sierra Wireless MC8775
USB modem. The platform is TS-Linux on the TS-7400.

When I used the built in kernel I got an error saying that ppp wasn't
supported in the kernel and that I should load ppp.o. But there is no
ppp.o even when the kernel is configured with ppp as a module. So I
built the kernel with ppp configured as part of the kernel. Now I get a
"connect script failed" error from pppd. It looks to me like pppd is
not talking to the USB port. I've manually loaded the USB modules and I
think that the USB is working okay because dmesg shows that the generic
USB serial converter is attached. I've also loaded all the modules in
the net directory including ppp_async.o but still with no luck. Is
there some other module I need to load? I have noticed that the
ppp_deflate.o comes up with symbol table errors when I try to load it,
but I'm not sure if it's necessary anyway.

Thanks
Dan
