Don't you have to copy the defconfig into .config, and then run "make oldconfig" to configure all of the new options before running "make"?

Hi,
I have seen that Technologic System has officially released the kernel
2.6.21-ts and I have tried it on a TS-7250. I have a problem: now,
redboot does not boot anymore and I'm not able to get redboot prompt.
Moreover, I have tried to recover it with serial blaster, but I get a
strange error.

1) How I have compiled the kernel

Downloaded the kernel from:
ftp://ftp.embeddedarm.com/ts-arm-linux-cd/sources/tskernel-2.6.21-ts-src.tar.gz
Downloaded the crosstool chain from:
ftp://ftp.embeddedarm.com/ts-arm-linux-cd/cross-toolchains/crosstool-linux26-3.4.4-2005q3-2.tar.gz
Edited Makefile
make ts72xx_defconfig
make

2) How I have run the new kernel image, from the Redboot console (please
note that I use JFFS2)

RedBoot> load -v -r -b 0x00218000 -m http -h 192.168.0.5
/zImage-linux-2.6.21-ts
-
Raw file loaded 0x00218000-0x0038369f, assumed entry at 0x00218000
RedBoot> exec -c "console=ttyAM0,115200 root=/dev/mtdblock1
mtdparts=phys_mapped_flash:16k(TS-BOOTROM)ro,29696k(Linux),-(RedBoot)
rootfstype=jffs2 panic=5 debug"

3) The kernel load successfully and the system works fine

4) Reboot

/ $ reboot
Restarting system.

5) The unit does not boot anymore and it's not possibile to enter the
redboot console. The serial console shows the following messages:

>> TS-NANDBOOT, Rev 1.00 - built 10:14:31, Mar 7 2005
>> Copyright (C) 2004, Technologic Systems

>> TS-BOOTROM, Rev 1.08 - built 16:18:21, Jun 5 2006
>> Copyright (C) 2006, Technologic Systems
>> TS-7250: Rev >E1 CPU, Rev B PLD, 32MB SDRAM
>> TS-5620: detected, battery OK, time ( 15:51:44, Nov 23 2007 )

(here it blocks)

===========================

I have tried the same procedure on another TS-7250 and I get the same
behavior.

===========================

I have tried to recover the TS-7250 with serial blaster (in the past,
I've been able to do it), but I get the following error:
>> OPEN TS-7250 BOOTLOADER, Rev 1.00 <<
SDRAM:32MB, FLASH:8MB, BOOT:Serial, BLD:"Oct 11 2006"

length=259744
waiting length acknowledgement '@'
found '@'
--------- SENDING FILE "redboot.bin" ---------
....write(): Resource temporarily unavailable
WriteByte ERROR,

Do you have any idea or suggestion?

Thanks,
Marco Pracucci
