TS publish code that show how to drive a HD44780 based display connected
in 8 bit mode to the TS72xx "LCD" port. They publish the pinning of this
port and Their product I believe just connects direct.
I've written a user land daemon which acts as a device driver for such a
display, which Yan Seiner added some support for ANSI control sequences.
