A security setting perhaps ...

So that implies the machine likes itself (or the loopback device).

Do you have another desktop machine running Linux on the
same network (or a Linux-CD booted windows machine)?
That would force the use of a connection over the ethernet
interface.

Ok, that would have been my suggestion, but it doesn't
work, eh ... hmm, I'm at a loss, sorry.

There's another command, or switch to showmount, that shows you
the export points of a machine. man exportfs might have it.
(My machines are in wondoze at the moment, so I can't check).
Have a play with a couple of Linux desktops and get them
working first. Then the TS7300 should be easy.
