I changed my /etc/exports to the same settings as yours so now I have:
/home/nfs *(rw,no_root_squash)
My nfs server is started manually with "/etc/init.d/nfs start".
I will now be using the mount command as you documented it (without
"-t nfs" and made the mount point /mnt/host).
I continue to get:
mount: RPC: Timed out
The server's /var/log/messages still shows:
rpc.mountd: authenticated mount request from 192.168.1.138 for /home/nfs

Mounting from the same machine that is exporting it worked for the
local machine; I got the correct file listing through the mount point.
Immediately upon seeing that I tried the TS-7300 and it still timed out.
I've made sure that any firewall is off and SELinux is disabled on the
host.

The showmount -a on the host returned the following:
*,192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0:/home/nfs/deb-sarge
,*,192,168.1.0/255.255.255.0:/home/nfs/deb-sarge
,192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0:/home/nfs/deb-sarge
192.168.1.138:*,192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
192.168.1.138:,*,192,168,1.0/255.255.255.0
192.168.1.138:,192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
On the client, showmount -a 192.168.1.11 show the same result.
The showmount indicates that the TS-7300, at 192.168.1.138, is doing
something to be recognized (maybe since it is "authenticated"?).
Thanks again for giving me some variations on settings and another
command to get more information.
Any other thoughts? Anyone?
