Not sure if this is where I should report possible bugs or not, but
here's what I'm seeing:

1: No matter how I connect to our TS-7250/TS-7KV, it sets the $TERM
value to 'linux'. Even when I connect with a program (like PuTTY)
that emulates an 'xterm'. I've verified that the serial console with
either minicom or PuTTY reports 'linux'; telnet terminals report
'linux'; and the local console (connected directly to the TS-7KV) also
reports 'linux'. However, PuTTY tells the terminal handler that it is
an 'xterm'.

2: The few programs I've installed in the USB chroot environment
running on the TS-7250 that use line drawing characters all end up
with gibberish instead of lines when running on the TS-7250. For
example 'mc', which works perfectly everywhere else I've used it. And
yes, I know about reconfiguring the terminals and sometimes i18n to
fix the fonts, but none of the terminal settings have helped, and
there's no i18n on TS-Linux.

3: Some of the function keys seem to be getting mis-translated by the
TS-7KV and terminal keyboard handler. For example, F2 never seems to
get through at all also Shift+F1 == F11. Since I'm trying to replace
an existing app using its original keyboard interface, it is VERY
important to me that all of the keys work as they should.

I believe that these things are bugs because, in the embedded linux I
built for a different platform several years ago none of these issues
exist. Back then I used a vanilla 2.4.20 kernel + rtai 24.1.11 +
busybox 1.00pre3 + dropbear 0.44, which is very similar to what
TS-Linux reports. If I was allowed, I'd probably take the week or two
necessary to dig out Karim Yaghmour's book
(http://www.embeddedtux.org) and build my own, but I'm required to use
an off-the-shelf linux for this project -- that's why we selected the
TS-7250.
