I think for what you want to do I'd recommend a small PLC rather than 
a TS-7xxx. The main issue with your application is reading the 
thermocouple. Some PLCs are available with thermocouple inputs such 
as the Horner HE-XE105.

If you were to be doing anything more complex, such as logging the 
activity via a web page, then the TS-7xxx would become the prefered 
choice.
