You can also compile all of your code on the most recent version of gcc on your desktop, if you create dummy stubs for the board specific stuff. Best to keep anything that is board specific well isolated anyway. I also find it useful to compile with g++, even if you want to compile the production version with gcc. I helped a guy that was writing a pure C program find some errors in his C code by using g++ for instance. Don.
