I'm not all that surprised I can't just di/ei around two or three C statements
in user space. It's not like I am on a microcontroller environment. It would
have made solving my problem too easy. :-)
One or two of the other suggested solutions look promising. It will just be a
matter of how long (and/or complicated it will be) to implement the solution.
