I will answer my own question in the hope this will help others.
If you are adding a single TS-SER1 to a TS7250, the simplest way is to use COM3
and IRQ7
jumpers.
The IRQ 7 corresponds to Linux IRQ 40, as shown at boot up time and reported by
setserial.
This creates a devile file named /dev/tts/2 which you then use as any serial
device. Don't
get confused by /dev/ttyAM2 on a TS7250 - this is not a real device.
