Unfortunately the graphic of the unit shows the wrong side; you cannot see
what the connector looks like; it is a ten position industrial grade
removable screw-down terminal strip. One position (#9) accepts power; two
(#1, #10) accept ground, and the seven remaining positions (#2-#8) feed
10-bit ADC inputs in parallel with whatever else is happening in that
position, summarized as follows:
2 positions (#7,#8) can act as either high side or low side switches, or
can be inputs only.
3 positions (#4,#5,#6) can act as low side switches or be inputs only.
2 positions (#2,#3) can be used for RS-485 or act as inputs only.

Input voltage is 4.7V - 30VDC, or you can power the units via USB; the
high side switches will will output to within about a diode drop of
whatever voltage you input and are current limited by a 400mA polyfuse.
The low side switches all have built-in clamp diodes so can be used to
drive relays; maximum current is 200mA.

At the moment we plan to provide two ways to use these devices. The first
way is that you can write a program (either in ladder logic or C) to
control your PLCs. If you have more then one TS-PLC unit you can utilize
all the I/Os across your entire PLC segment (connected to a single RS-485
chain or within wireless mesh distance) as if they were on a single unit
(from the perspective of your program); your program will be distributed
across units, and they will act like a cluster in that they will
autonomously run their piece of the overall program, but will
automatically communicate I/O states amongst themselves as needed.
A second mode would be to allow the user to replace part of the TS-PLC
functionality with their own control program; this would be useful for
cases where the relative slow scan cycles of the PLC framework (1 ms
minimum period) was inappropriate.
Although this is not shown in the preliminary documents Ronald linked to,
you will need a separate master device (7400 based I believe) which
provides the web interface and control functionality and also acts as the
actual RS-485 master if you connect the TS-PLCs via RS-485.
However, keep in mind I've got some of the prototype units running on a
table sitting in my office, so I would be eager to hear what would make
these units more useful to you.
