The code I posted earlier works fine. I borrowed a different Modbus device and it worked. Apparently, the 485 port on the first device is bad. I had an "electrical mishap" a couple of days ago but I didn't think it hurt anything. I guess it did. :( Thanks for the responses and sorry to waste your time. Yahoo!
