I purchased a TS-7300 without the onboard RTC. I realized that I
really wanted one, so I purchased (a direct replacement, DS12887A) the
recommended M48T86PC1 module (TS-7300 Manual) and installed it. My
soldering skills aren't the best but are usually adequate. I noticed
in the schematic (after I installed the RTC) that the part is slightly
different there, a DS1687.
I now get errors trying to access the RTC, "Timed out waiting for time
change." so I know there is something wrong. I did a search and saw
one other thread about this error but no resolution to it.
The other thread asked for this, I include it in case it is helpful.

I'm guessing I have one of the following problems, and hope the group
can help me pin it down.
1. I can't solder as good as I thought I could.
2. I read the wrong document first and should have ordered the DS1687
3. I have the driver for the add on pc104 RTC in my kernel (stock
SDCard), not the on board RTC.
4. I need to modify the driver, and the fix is...
5. I need to install an older driver, I can get it...
