Technologic doesn't officially support the 2.6 kernel, although there
are several users on this list who are running 2.6 kernels on TS-7xxx
boards. I was able to very easily patch, compile, and boot 2.6.20 on a
TS-7400 by following Charlie's notes
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ts-7000/message/5497. AFAIK the only
peripheral that is not yet supported is the SD card. All that is
required to use the SD card is for someone to port the 2.4 block
driver/shim to 2.6.

It looks like there may be some problems with running Debian Etch with a
2.4 kernel...
"Some applications in etch may no longer work with a 2.4 kernel, for
example because they require epoll() support, which is not available in
2.4 kernels. Such applications may either not work at all or not work
correctly until the system has been rebooted with a 2.6 kernel. One
example is the HTTP proxy squid."
In my free time I upgraded our Sarge distro to Etch too see how smooth
the upgrade process was. Although the upgrade was slow on a 200MHz CPU I
didn't run into a single problem... I've uploaded the tarball here
http://oz.embeddedarm.com/~eddie/pub/debian/etch/debian_etch.tar.bz2 for
anyone who is interested, although keep in mind this is not officially
supported by Technologic Systems.

AFAIK it's not possible to use JFFS2 on an SD card.
