Sounds like you are trying to delete a directory, not a file. To delete a directory, and all of the contents, use: rm -r (recursive) or rm -rf (recursive, force) careful! There is also and rmdir command to delete directories, but it will also give errors for non-empty directories, though there are options to override it. Don.
