What I do is use a flat IDC ribbon header like this:

You crimp on a ribbon cable, then only use the wires you need.

If you are feeling brave, you can cut 1x2 or 2x2 with a utility knife
and solder your wires to the idc spurs.

What *I* am looking for is PC-mount .1 female headers. Anyone seen any
of those?
