Subject: [ts-7000] TS-7200 ttyAM1 Console Login Problem

Hello,
I am trying to use com2 as my console connection to Minicom running
on a Debian Linux PC. However I am unable to get past the "root" login.
Background: I have the Technologic Systems supplied Debian Woody image
loaded onto a 1GB CF that is in my TS-7200. When I use this set-up and
boot using Com1 (ttyAM0) I can log into the TS-7200 SBC without
problems.
So do a "shutdown -h now", wait for the SBC to "power down",I turn off
the SBC, move the jumper from '3' to '4', move the Technologic Systems
supplied RS-232 dual-headed cable to the Com2 RS-232 10-pin adapter
(again Technologic Systems supplied).
I then plug the power adapter back in the wall, hit CTRL-C a few times
until I get the RedBoot> prompt and then I type in the following
RedBoot>fis load vmlinux
RedBoot>exec -c "console=ttyAM1,115200 ip=dhcp root=/dev/hda1"
The TS-7200 then proceeds to boot up fine and returns the login prompt
and I type "root". It then asks for a password and I type in the
correct password. Then the TS-7200 keeps cycling through the login:
and password: even though I typed in the correct combination that
worked when I was connected to COM1 (ttyAM0).
Also, the /etc/inittab entries for console from ttyAM0 and ttyAM1 are
bothe active (not commented out) and they appear to be the same.
What do I need to do so that I can connect the console to COM2?
Thanks,
