Get an old tin, with lid, big enough to hold the bulb.
Mount the bulb holder in the tin along with holes for wire, and some
ventilation holes near top and bottom. You won't see it flashing on and
off, and the tin will stop the light energy being wasted by re-radiating
the energy as heat.
