Hi all,
I am developing a sound application for the TS-7400, and for testing I
am currently using a cheap USB dongle with ALSA drivers. The quality
of the USB dongle is very low, and the produced sound is very noisy.
So I'm thinking to build/buy my own "sound card", maybe using one of
the CODECs already mentioned in this thread.
I am a software engineer with only basic electrical skills, so I need
some advice to start. I would like to build a "card" to be connected
to the TS-7400 (either through AC97 or I2S) with 2 (mono) jacks, one
for the microphone and one for the speaker. The output should already
be "amplified", since I would like to be able to connect a speaker
(about 5W, maybe more) to the card, it's not intended to be used with
headphones.
Is anybody of you aware of an highly integrated CODEC that could fit
my needs? Size/price is not important for my project, but since I am
trying to build this card on my own, I would prefer a simple board
with all needed logic inside the chip rather than having to solder
more components by myself.
How is possible to send audio to such an audio card? From the software
point of you, could I use ALSA or other ways are preferred (direct
memory writes, maybe using a kernel module)?
Every hint is extremely welcomed, either through this form or by
sending me private messages for off topic discussion.
Thanks a lot
Andrea
