I'm using a patched version of 2.6.19, with discontiguous memory
support, and it works very well over nfs root. like a charm actually.
However, between 2.17 or so and 2.20 there has been a lot of changes
involving the block layer, io schedulers, and also the structs used for
them.
Yaffs2 should work at this point - there was a bit of a glitch a week
ago i think - but you'd probably have to erase & re-write the flash
image on your board if you're moving from a 2.4 to a 2.6 kernel ...
assuming of course you'd like to have your kernel boot directly into the
flash filesystem.
