I believe I've seen this.  On my TS-7400 there were two different 
sdcard.o drivers.  One was included in the fastboot RAM disk, and the 
other was in the mtdroot filesystem.  IIRC the one in mtdroot worked, 
while the one in RAM disk gave the message you're seeing.  Be careful 
of the pathname you use to insmod the module.
