I don't know if this info is specific to the ts-7400 but here goes: http://www.embeddedarm.com/Manuals/ts-7400-info.txt , Section "SD flash card security features" Coming up with self-made solutions like doing checksums on startup seem to be easy to override: if they are able to put new stuff on the card they're likely to be able to remove some as well, including those startup checks. I haven't put much thought into this but it may be quite attractive to "lock" the card to the board and have a means to password-protect write-access to the card. Yahoo!
