Big problem here is that the distribution is built on gcc 3.3.4 and
glibc 2.3.2 You can't go compiling apps with other versions of glibc
unless you recompile the entire system and update glibc or compile the
app statically. So you can use gcc 4.1.1 but you can not change glibc.
