If I have some device that draws too much power from USB port (for
TS-7xxx board to supply), and I supply it more power with an additional
power supply, how well USB port is protected from (small) voltage mismatch?
I'm mainly considering situation where I have TS-7260 in power-efficient
setup (on battery) and then I have some power-hungry USB device that I
operate only when there is enough power (engine running, or short times
on battery). If I setup powerful external 5V regulator and feed other
USB port Y-cable with that, controlled by TS-7260 and use that only when
I need the external device to run.
For testing it would be just easier to USB hub with external power
supply, but as one preperes a box for field use, then a simpler setup
would be nice (just 5v regulator and USB port).
