Hi,

I am trying to connect a USB webcam to TS 7300 board. The arm board has debian linux (kernel 2.4.26-ts11). I have got a couple of webcams (creative vf 0050, creative pd1100, logitech quickcam express pro 3000). I connected creative vf 0050 to the board and tried the following commands:

  1. lsusb ? will list all the usb devices connected.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 041e:4036 Creative Technology, Ltd Webcam Live

   2. lsmod (will list the already loaded modules)
:/# lsmod

.
hub.c: new USB device not_pci-3, assigned address 2
usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x41e/0x4036) is not claimed by any active driver

I also read that
Webcam drivers are usually available one of three ways: within the kernel, as a compilable stand alone module, or available as a pre-compiled (packaged) binary driver from your Linux distribution.

Now, I am not getting,  where to get a compatible stand alone module or a driver for the webcam?

how will I know that the webcam is working ?

what is the command to capture an image frm webcam?

How to save that image in www folder so that I can email the image ?(TS7300 has got a webserver running on it )

Any help/suggestions /comments  would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Shweta
