I'd like to have a user-space utility that can update the kernel image I
have stored in the flash. If necessary, I'll write my own, but I'd like
to not reinvent any parts of the wheel if they are already out here
somewhere.
The main point is that I need the tools that will let me make a "user
friendly" way for my customers to upgrade their kernels if necessary.
Currently the kernel is a gziped image in flash.
1. Is there some support already in evbarm/tsarm for the flash? I've
looked but didn't find anything.
2. If there's no support there already, can someone tell me where in the
memory map of a booted NetBSD system the flash winds up? I've written
flash loaders before, so a do-it-myself flash loader device driver is
something I'm considering.
--or--
Am I going about this in the wrong way? Is there something I can put in
the flash that knows how to read and boot a file from my NetBSD compact
flash? This would be ideal, but so far I haven't found the tools.
Thanks,
Bill Landolina
