Hello Andreas,
I'm not sure of the origin of this glitch, but there appears to be 2
possible fixes:
1) change the corresponding machine id in
$KERNELDIR/arch/arm/tools/mach-types from 673 (0x163) to 355 (0x163).
Note this will make your kernel unusable (according to Lennart) on other
platforms.
2) modify redboot.bin as obtained from ftp://oz.embeddedarm.com in the
file ts7200-8MBflash-update.zip, and overwrite the redboot on your
board. (this is a bit trickier, but instructions exist in the zip)
"Note: If you are using Redboot.bin from ts7200-8MBflash-update.zip, you
can patch the Machine ID (dword) at offset 0xAF0."
(subj. "2.6 derevo18 patch", 06/20/06)
I've only tried the first of these, and that works out reasonably well.
I'm currently also trying to establish a useful 2.6 kernel, and have
applied the yaffs patch to my kernel, so that I could hopefully read the
fs, however, I lack the udev init routines, so none of the devices are
populated upon boot. Normally, i would fix this problem by booting into
an NFS root, but at the moment, I'm in Germany and without my normal
network gear.
Good luck!
