It also provides mechanism to test the DIO's, serial port and
calibrate the ADCs.

Maybe not. You can also use telnet to run the "ln -sf
/linuxrc-sdroot; save" instead of the serial port and never have to do
a RS232 level conversion. The default IP address of the board is
192.168.0.50 and the out-of-the-box configuration will have a telnet
server running in the fast-boot environment.
