If there are in fact files on it, it *must* have a file sytem.  If,
OTOH, there aren't any files on it (i.e. you cannot see them by any
means) then it's likely there isn't a file system on it.

If the data that may be on it is not valuable, try creating a file
system on it either using linux/fdisk and friends or with windows...
