Maybe, but X11 consumes a lot of resources which could be better spent for the application you want to run. If you don't need to run an application that _only_ supports X11, you could use a graphics toolkit that directly uses the framebuffer driver. > Which toolkits are available (tk, GTK, etc)? GTK, Qt, SDL are all available in embedded versions that use the framebuffer instead of X11.
