Same device, new problem. This time I'm having trouble with connecting
to the cell tower. The light stays on and never flashes. This sim card
has worked at this location perfectly in another configuration (with a
signal strength of only 4) using a TS-5500 in a pc card modem. The
signal is good, but I can't tell if it's reading the sim card correctly.
Kermit session with the modem:

This says that it is negotiating with the tower but failing to establish
a connection, and has a signal strength of 16 (which is really good).
The modem is a Sony Ericsson GR48.
Could someone with more knowledge about GSM modems lend a hand at giving
some suggestions?
I've tried cycling the power to the modem but it still doesn't connect.
