Hello all,
I currently have a TS7200 and was wondering if anyone has used a
Microdrive or anything similar with it. I know the Microdrives are
Type II CF, so will they fit? (I'm a newbie when it comes to that sort
of thing.)
Here is a link to a Hitachi Microdrive I am considering getting:

(tinyurl'd in case the original gets broken up)
The only reason I am considering getting a Microdrive is becuase I'm
going to be doing a lot of logging during development and I don't want
to burn out my CF disks very often. I might just end up doing the
logging over NFS, but I would appreciate responses from people who
have used a small hard drive with this board.

Mark,
It might depend on the CF socket installed on the board. I could not
install a microdrive on a board I have here because of the socket. It
just wouldn't fit. Electricaly it should be compatible.
Ext2 is probably ok, the wear leveling should occur in the hardware, I
believe. Someone please correct me on this if they know better! Just
make sure you mount the file system with the "noatime" option. Also
you might put your logging on a different file system/partition than
the rest of the system, then you can make parts of the system read
only, and avoid power down issues.
I have used the minix file system (low disc space overhead) for small
partitions and ext2 for larger ones. I wonder if anyone has any
suggestions for the best choice on CF cards?
