Hi All,
My boss' teenage son lost his sight a year or so back (which you can
imagine was quite a blow), and my boss is doing everything he can to
help him out.
On thing he's been trying is a system outlined on
http://www.seeingwithsound.com/ which converts a webcam image into a
sound 'picture' using sweeping tone of varying frequency mix (they
supply some source code on their site).
What I'd like to do is get the basic software ported to a TS-7200 (as
I have a number of these units lying around) using a USB webcam and
USB Audio module. I've got various Logitech webcams and a generic USB
Audio module, but as a Linux Newbie I'm unsure what I need to do to
get the two devices working on the TS-7200.
My initial aim is to have a number of programs which interact via a
ram disk. A Webcam program takes a snapshot, and converts the image to
a sound WAV file which is saved to a ram disk. This file can then be
sent through a WAV player which sends the audio file to the headphones.
Eventually these two applications would be combined into a single
application which sends the webcam directly to the audio output.
The main reason for using the TS-7200 is that this device needs to run
from batteries for a long period of time, and lugging a laptop around
becomes a little tiring...
Note: When I plug in the USB Audio module into my TS-7300 (which works
fine on a PC) I get the following message:
usb.c: USB device 4 (vend/prod 0xd8c/0x1) is not claimed by any active
driver.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
