Again, tell us about your application:

What is the sample rate you need?
How many discrete inputs?
How many discrete outputs?
How many analog inputs?
How many analog outputs?
Do you need to analyze and display the data in real-time?
Do you need to create graphs?
Do you need to control something?

And, this brings up another point, has anybody compoled gnuplot for
the Arm boards? This is great for creating graphs in the form of png
or jpg that can be viewd from a web browser.

Look here for an example of experimental data graphed using gnuplot:

I want to make this instrument controller run on the Arm eventually.
Right now it runs on a PC running Linux with plug-in data acquisition
card.
