Well, read the caveat about memory corruption... Then decide.
I think their kernel *does* work with their crosstools quite well. At
least I've never had any trouble with their crosstools and their
kernel. It's only when you decide to build your own rootfs that you
run into these issues, and then you have to resolve them...
Also, busybox is constantly under very heavy development; the code
changes constantly. At some point you have to freeze the version you
have and deal with it. The module_insert thing was/is a busybox issue
more than a TS crosstools issue. The busybox folks broke module
insertion at some point for some combinations of kernels/gcc, and just
now have gotten around to clarifying the issues so that a fix could be
developed.
