I thought that it would be more difficult than it sounds because of
hardware not being "initialized" at that early stage.  I've got
scratchbox working (no brainer) and have written a bit of C...so maybe
 it won't be so bad.

Updating redboot seems scary though...I don't want to make my board
inoperable.
