One way I've done it in the past is to use VM Ware and map the USB
device to yoru vmware session. Then boot a knoppix distro inside of
VM Ware and format the mapped cf card. Works like a charm.
This may or may not work with Qemu or Boch, but I don't know as I have
never used them.
